Picturing a two drawer file cabinet, the file cabinet emoji is used in a number of contexts, especially to those referring to office work and record keeping. Depending on the version used, the file cabinet emoji is usually a shade of grey, blue or white and has a small label holder above each handle. On some platforms – such as Samsung and Facebook – the bottom drawer is partially open. This emoji has many of the same meanings as the card file box emoji, and is often used interchangeably. It can be used to figuratively describe an idea or plan being “put on record” or “filed away”. It is also used more literally and generally when talking about office work and an office environment.
